Many Redmond commuters enjoy having only a 15-mile commute from downtown Seattle. Two of Redmond's many communities include the Union Hill area north of Lake Sammamish which offers hundreds of homes on acreage, and Redmond Ridge, which has hundreds of new homes near the new Trilogy golf course.

There are 48 schools within the Lake Washington School District that serves over 150,000 residents in Redmond, Kirkland, and a portion of Sammamish and Woodinville. Scores on standardized tests place the School District in the State's top 10%.
